Mamilla Rooftop Deck

With everything going on in the world right now, I wanted to post about something that brings a smile to my face and some calm to my hectic surroundings. There are a handful of places here in Jerusalem that serve as a real refuge from the chaos of the city. Below, you will find yourself walking out onto the rooftop of the chic Mamilla Hotel in Jerusalem. Just take the elevator to the top floor and follow the double doors outside to find this luxurious and breathtaking view:

The Mamilla Rooftop deck is the perfect place to take a hiatus from reality while taking in an unparalleled view of the nearby Old City.  This classy deck and restaurant is now open year-round and you can visit it 7 days a week between the hours of 6 p.m. to midnight from Sundays to Thursdays and from 12 noon to 11:00 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. So, whether you want to visit the rooftop deck on a warm summer night or a cooler winter day, you will be sure to have a meal to remember.

Here are some images of my first visit to the Mamilla Rooftop deck a few months back when there was still a distinct chill in the air. They had the area surrounded with see-through plastic coverings and heaters on the inside so that you could still enjoy your outdoor view while being sufficiently warm:

On my more recent visit to the Mamilla Rooftop deck, the sun was blazing and fans were blowing, as the heat welcomed itself to Israel for the first time in a long, long time. The views were just as stellar and the deck buzzed with music, laughter and good times:

And by the way, the food was to die for. Check out the menu on Mamilla Hotel's website: click here. The prices are a bit more than its sister restaurant, the Mamilla Cafe, which is also supposed to have memorable views and scrumptious dishes. It's on my list, too: see here.

Don't miss out on a visit to the Mamilla Rooptop deck, you won't regret it! It's a lovely sanctuary from the bustling city that awaits it below.  I'm already looking forward to my next visit there....
