Last year at this time of year here in Jerusalem we had the Jerusalem Food Festival; and this year, yet again, on the first day of spring, the Old City of Jerusalem will be hosting yet another exciting festival to kick start the festival season. However, this year's theme will be "Sounds of the Old City", a musical treat for the ears.
Armenian music, traditional Arab music, Christian music and gospel groups will all be part of the scene. Several different traditions will be honored in a variety of performances found throughout the Old City, between the hours of 6:00 pm to 11:00 pm from March 20-22, 2012. Better yet, entry is free!
Nothing like some traditional music to set the scene for the backdrop of the Old City. It's always exciting to set foot inside the Old City walls, but it's just that much more of a memorable experience during one of the annual festivals that take place.
Here's a map of the Old City pinpointing where the musical performances will be taking place. For more information on the individual performances, you can follow this link (click here) to the festival's website where times and dates are announced for each performance.
Because we have guests in town this week, we might just have to consider taking them for a nighttime stroll through the Old City in honor of the festival. If I happen to be away from my blog over the next week, you'll know why! Enjoy the festival if you haven't already been, it's sure to be a treat for the senses.
